Our Newest Addition – In-House Lab
By having an in house lab, we are able to do our own testing on the quality and shelf life of our products as well as monitor the cleanliness of our processing area. The first program put into place from our new lab was random daily swabbing of equipment, floors, walls, & employee hands to ensure that it is bacteria free.
Our in-house laboratory serves as a strong support for the quality control and quality assurance programs in all of our plant operations. Daily samples of raw materials, finished products as well as plant environmental and employee hand-swabs are analyzed using 3M Microbiology’s full line of testing and monitoring products. This practice allows for rapid detection and resolution of problem areas while maintaining product quality at all times.
Ocean Galley Seafood’s Lab Operations is staffed with over 12 years of various food experience in restaurant, clinical and laboratory settings. Our Lab Director holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community nutrition and has worked at several food facilities both in the United States and overseas. Prior to working at Ocean Galley Seafood, she performed a wide variety of sample preparation and analysis for the Microbiology Department of Northland Laboratories, a state-of-the-art food research laboratory in Northbrook, Illinois.
